Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM)

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM), a national observance dedicated to raising awareness about developmental disabilities and highlighting the importance of inclusion, accessibility, and community support. DDAM provides an opportunity to recognize the diverse abilities, contributions, and experiences of people with developmental disabilities, while also addressing the barriers they continue to face in education, employment, healthcare, and community life.

Throughout the month, organizations, advocates, and community members come together to promote understanding, challenge misconceptions, and advance policies and practices that support independence, equity, and full participation. Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is not only about awareness — it’s about action, collaboration, and building communities where everyone is valued and empowered to thrive.
